Thermal diffusivity measurement of meat products

open access: yes, 2009
Thermal diffusivity is an important thermal property in modeling, simulation and control of various food processing operations. Thermal diffusivities of meat products were measured in the temperature range of -35 to +10 degrees C, by using time ...

The Process Transport of Drying Corn With Mixed-Adsorption Drying [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Mixed-adsorption drying with adsorptive material such as zeolite is an option to enhance the performance of drying corn. In this case, zeolite and seeds are mixed and fluidized by warm air as drying medium.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

A Novel CMOS Sensor for Measuring Thermal Diffusivity of Liquids with a Transient Method

open access: yes, 2007
The purpose of this thesis is to design a novel microdevice for measuring the thermal diffusivity of a liquid droplet in small amounts. CMOS chip is fabricated by TSMC 0.35μm 2P4M CMOS process and post-CMOS micromachining processes are proceeded.

Determination of hot mix asphalt thermal characteristics prepared with different binders.

open access: yesRevista Tecnologia, 2009
The improvement of mathematical models for analysis of the thermal and mechanical behavior of pavements increases the need to know the materials characteristics. This paper has as goal analize methods to calculate thermal diffusivity and determine the

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

KINETICS OF PEROXIDASE INACTIVATION DURING THERMAL-PROCESSING OF WHOLE POTATOES

open access: yes, 1991
A simple kinetic model was developed to stimulate peroxidase deactivation in whole potatoes during blanching. Stimulation of the unsteady state temperature profile development in the tubers was accomplished considering the shape of a tuber similar to a ...

Photoacoustic measurements of the thermal diffusivity of solids in the presence of a drum effect

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
The photoacoustic measurements of the thermal diffusivity of the thick plates of metals are discussed when the drum effect is not quenched. The dominant machanism responsible for the photoacoustic signal was determined.
