Thermal effects of bioimplants
IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 2005Implantable devices are well on the way to becoming small, dedicated, and highly complex embedded systems. As such, they are plagued by the same thermal management problems that afflict the computer industry: increased functionality causes increased heat generation. Herein, the effects of various parameters on the temperature increase in the human body

Abstract As has been indicated in earlier chapters, before dating measurements are made there is the need for preheating, at any rate with most samples. Besides the wanted effects of such preheating there are also unwanted effects which have relevance to the effectiveness of zeroing.

Impact of thermal coupling effects on the effective thermal conductivity of aerogels
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2017Nanoporous aerogels are excellent thermal insulation materials with thermal conductivities down to about 0.012 W m−1 K−1 at ambient conditions. So far, it was assumed that the total thermal conductivity of aerogels can be described by a simple superposition of the different individual heat transport contributions.
