Effects of initial α-phase content on the electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of pressureless solid-state sintered SiC ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Abstract αand β-SiC starting powders of similar particle sizes were used to investigate the effect of initial α-phase content on the electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of pressureless solid-state sintered (PSS) SiC ceramics with B4C and C.

Effect of Post-Drawing Thermal Treatment on the Mechanical Behavior of Solid-State Drawn Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) Filaments

open access: yesTextiles, 2023
In this work, two commercial extruded filaments for 3D printing obtained from different NatureWorks PLA resins (Ingeo™ Biopolymer 3D850 and Ingeo™ Biopolymer 4043D) were solid-state drawn at varying temperatures and subsequently heat treated by annealing. The aim was to analyze the effect of post-processing of industrial fibers (solid-state drawing and

Effect of aramid and carbon fibers with nano carbon particles on the mechanical properties of EPDM rubber thermal insulators for solid rocket motors application

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2021
The effect of varying compositions (5, 10, 15, 30 Phr) of aramid fiber in the pulp form Kevlar (KP), carbon mono fiber (CMF), and nano-carbon black (NCB) as filler for Trilene liquid polymers - Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) on mechanical properties were examined. All formulations contained 100 Phr EPDM, 60 Phr Ammonium polyphosphate (AP), and

Multiphysics Coupling Simulation of Off-Axis Integrated Cavity Optical Sensing System

open access: yesPhotonics
The optical properties of an off-axis integrated cavity system are influenced by both structural deformation and thermal deformation. In this paper, the finite element simulation and analysis software COMSOL multiphysics was used to numerically simulate ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
