Fermentation efficiency of thermally dried kefir

Bioresource Technology, 2008
Three thermal drying methods (conventional, vacuum and convective) were used for drying of kefir biomass and their effect on cell viability, fermentation rate and other kinetic parameters of lactose and whey fermentation were studied. Convective drying rate was higher than conventional and even higher than vacuum at each studied temperature (28, 33 and

Impact of Ageing on Thermal Efficiency of Solar Thermal Collectors

2008
Today it is common practice to calculate the performance of solar thermal systems or solar collectors based on the results of a thermal performance test carried out with a new solar collector. However, for an integral assessment of solar thermal collectors and systems, it is necessary to consider the change of performance with time due to degradation ...

On the Calculation of Efficiencies and Costs in Thermal Systems

Advanced Energy Systems, 1999
Abstract This paper is an extension, generalization and simplification of a concept presented in two previous papers. A general method for defining and calculating exergetic efficiencies and exergy-related costs in thermal systems is presented.

Energy efficient thermal systems and processes

Thermal Science and Engineering Progress, 2018
Abstract Achieving thermal systems and processes which are energy efficient and of optimised design is a goal for researchers and engineers in view of rising energy costs and decreasing targets for greenhouse gas emissions. Energy efficiency is also vital if organisations are to remain competitive.

An efficient thermal comfort delivery in workplaces

2019 IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications Workshops (PerCom Workshops), 2019
Prevailing mechanisms that deliver thermal comfort in workplaces are energy-hungry and yet provide a sub-optimal thermal comfort. Indeed, they are based on flawed premises and purposely ignore decisive precursors to thermal comfort. This research proposes to estimate a person's thermal comfort level from the fluctuations in his physiological signals ...

On the Thermal Efficiency of Cold‐Stressed Fingers

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1998
ABSTRACT: Thermal efficiency of cold‐stressed finger‐tips during cold induced vasodilatation (CIVD) is considered. The actual heat loss from the finger‐tip is compared to either the minimal or the maximal heat losses. The actual heat loss is estimated by integrating the area under the time‐temperature curve of the finger‐tip.
