Analysis of the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication of a finite line contact

Tribology International, 2002
A complete numerical solution for the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) problem of a finite line contact between an infinite plane and an axially profiled cylindrical roller is obtained. The pressure profile and the film shape in the middle part of the roller are very different from those at the ends. However, the finite line contact results

Thermal effects in elastohydrodynamic lubrication of line contacts using a non-Newtonian lubricant

Tribology International, 1991
Abstract A Reynolds' equation, using Winer's viscoplastic model to express the non-Newtonian fluid property, is derived for line-contact EHL problems. The numerical solutions are obtained to the incorporated Reynolds', elasticity, and energy equations for pressure, film thickness, and temperature distribution between two surfaces simultaneously ...

Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Line Contact Considering the Thermal Elastic Deformation

2020
By considering the radial thermal elastic deformation of line contact solid surface caused by lubricant temperature rise, a new numerical method is utilized to calculate the solution of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) in line contact.

Thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication analysis of deep groove ball bearing

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2018
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) analysis of a deep groove ball bearing. Design/methodology/approach The TEHL model for the groove ball is first established, into which the elastic deformation is incorporated.

Size Effect on the Behavior of Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Roller Pairs

Journal of Tribology, 2012
In order to investigate the size effect on elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) of roller pairs, complete numerical solutions for both the Newtonian fluid and the Eyring fluid thermal EHL problems of roller pairs under steady state conditions have been achieved.

A fast method for the numerical solution of thermal-elastohydrodynamic lubrication problems

Wear, 1996
Abstract The paper presents a method for the numerical solution of the elastohydrodynamic lubrication problem in line contacts, which includes thermal and rheological effects. The method consists in alternating repeatedly the solution of a generalised Reynolds equation and of the energy equation.

Numerical modelling of thermal effects in elastohydrodynamic lubrication solvers

2003
The numerical modelling of thermal effects in elastohydrodynamic lubrication solvers is addressed by extending the code of the authors. This code is used to investigate the important effect of shear upon the temperature profiles for both a steady state and a transient line reversal example and also for a steady state point contact problem.

A Refined Solution to the Thermal-Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Rolling and Sliding Cylinders

A S L E Transactions, 1965
In this paper, a recent solution on the thermal-elastohydrodynamic lubrication of rolling and sliding cylinders is extended to consider a more rigorous analysis of temperature by using a two-dimensional finite difference method. The effect of the local pressure-temperature dependent viscosity, the compressibility effect of the lubricant and the heat ...
