Predicted Performance Bounds of Thermochromism Assisted Photon Transport for Efficient Solar Thermal Energy Storage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Efficient storage of solar thermal energy is still one of the major bottlenecks in realizing dispatchable solar thermal systems. Present work is a significant step in this direction, wherein, we propose, thermochromism assisted photon transport based optical charging for efficient latent heat storage.

Cellulose Nanofibrils Endow Phase-Change Polyethylene Glycol with Form Control and Solid-to-gel Transition for Thermal Energy Storage

open access: yesACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2021
Green energy-storage materials enable the sustainable use of renewable energy and waste heat. As such, a form-stable phase-change nanohybrid (PCN) is demonstrated to solve the fluidity and leakage issues typical of phase-change materials (PCMs). Here, we

Power Availability of PV plus Thermal Batteries in real-world electric power grids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
As variable renewable energy sources comprise a growing share of total electricity generation, energy storage technologies are becoming increasingly critical for balancing energy generation and demand. In this study, we modeled an existing thermal energy storage unit with estimated capital costs that are sufficiently low to enable large-scale ...

Uncertainty-Cognizant Model Predictive Control for Energy Management of Residential Buildings with PVT and Thermal Energy Storage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The building sector accounts for almost 40 percent of the global energy consumption. This reveals a great opportunity to exploit renewable energy resources in buildings to achieve the climate target. In this context, this paper offers a building energy system embracing a heat pump, a thermal energy storage system along with grid-connected photovoltaic ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

High-Capacity High-Power Thermal Energy Storage Using Solid-Solid Martensitic Transformations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Adding thermal conductivity enhancements to increase thermal power in solid-liquid phase-change thermal energy storage modules compromises volumetric energy density and often times reduces the mass and volume of active phase change material (PCM) by well over half.

Cytoplasmic delivery of antibodies through grafting a functional single complementarity‐determining region loop

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We achieved cytoplasmic delivery of non‐cell‐penetrating IgGs by grafting a single functional complementarity‐determining region 1 (CDR1) from the light chain variable region (VL) of the cell‐internalizable 3D8 antibody. The engineered IgG acquired cell‐penetrating ability while maintaining antigen affinity, highlighting CDR1 grafting as a promising ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Asymmetric phenomenon of flow and heat transfer in charging process of thermal energy storage based on an entire domain model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Phase change energy storage is getting increasing attention as a representative technology to achieve carbon neutrality. The phase change process exists typical phenomenon of asymmetry that affects the energy storage performance. However, the mechanism of asymmetry is currently lack of elaboration because the half domain model is always used to ...
