Abstract After a review of the calculational approaches, the free energy of scalar particles in thermal equilibrium is calculated. The IR behaviour of mass-less scalar fields is examined, finding that a resummation of IR divergent terms is necessary.

Abstract It is possible to describe thermal radiation environment at a point in space using the concept of the radiation field. This paper derives the fundamental parameters of the field, and describes how they may be measured. The use of the radiation vector, or its equivalent the vector radiant temperature, is recommended as a measure of the ...

Thermal fields during regelation
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1980Abstract Regelation of ice within the soil matrix is a possible mechanism of ice transport during frost-heave. The classical, single-particle, theory of regelation is here extended to transverse, longitudinal, and square infinite arrays of cylindrical particles, for the case, as in soils, where heat-conduction is the rate-governing process.

Anomalous thermal field emission
Technical Physics, 2007The field emissivity of ZrO2/W(100) nanoheterostructures made by applying a thin (≈10 nm) ZrO2 layer on the surface of a needle-like W(100) microcrystal is studied. At a nanoheterostructure temperature of ≈2000 K, electron emission is found to start at a low extracting (Laplace) field (below 50 V/μm).
