Stem hydraulic capacitance decreases with drought stress : implications for modelling tree hydraulics in the Mediterranean oak Quercus ilex [PDF]
Hydraulic modelling is a primary tool to predict plant performance in future drier scenarios. However, as most tree models are validated under non-stress conditions they may fail when water becomes limiting.

An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Phenomenology of liquid metal thermal-hydraulics [PDF]
The cooling system of the Energy Amplifier (EA) is based on a Lead flow driven by natural circulation [1]. In the Energy Amplifier Demonstration Facility (EADF) a Lead-Bismuth eutectic is used and natural circulation, although enhanced through a gas ...

Large-eddy simulations of turbulent flow for grid-to-rod fretting in nuclear reactors
The grid-to-rod fretting (GTRF) problem in pressurized water reactors is a flow-induced vibration problem that results in wear and failure of the fuel rods in nuclear assemblies.

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

Experimental and Numerical Study of Rod Bundle Sub-channel Flow Field under Blockage
Experiment study of a 5×5 rod bundle was conducted to investigate the effect of blockage on sub-channel flow field and mass flow rate. A 3×3 block was set in a 5×5 rod bundle with the largest blocking percent of about 72% in the center sub-channel.
