Thermal strain imaging: a review [PDF]
Abstract Thermal strain imaging (TSI) or temporal strain imaging is an ultrasound application that exploits the temperature dependence of sound speed to create thermal (temporal) strain images. This article provides an overview of the field of TSI for biomedical applications that have appeared in the literature over the past several ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

An Automatic System to Detect Thermal Leakages and Damages on Building Facade Using Thermal Images [PDF]
In recent years, very high energy consumption is the major problem of the big cities. Most of the energy of the cities are disbursed to warm and cool buildings. Thus, detecting heat leakages on building walls is a new research problem.

An Autoadaptive Edge-Detection Algorithm for Flame and Fire Image Processing [PDF]
The determination of flame or fire edges is the process of identifying a boundary between the area where there is thermochemical reaction and those without. It is a precursor to image-based flame monitoring, early fire detection, fire evaluation, and the

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Body-Based Gender Recognition Using Images from Visible and Thermal Cameras
Gender information has many useful applications in computer vision systems, such as surveillance systems, counting the number of males and females in a shopping mall, accessing control systems in restricted areas, or any human-computer interaction system.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
