Bolometric Bond Albedo and Thermal Inertia Maps of Mimas. [PDF]

open access: yesIcarus, 2020
We use data from Cassini's Composite Infrared Spectrometer CIRS to map Mimas' surface temperatures and its thermophysical properties. This provides a dramatic improvement on the work in Howett et al. (2011), where the values were determined at only two regions on Mimas (one inside, and another outside of the anomalous region).

Low thermal inertia of carbonaceous asteroid Bennu driven by cracks observed in returned samples [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Thermal inertia is used to infer physical properties of asteroid surfaces. The carbonaceous asteroid Bennu has low thermal inertia suggestive of a surface covered in sub-centimeter rock fragments.

ASTERIA—Asteroid Thermal Inertia Analyzer

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Thermal inertia estimates are available for a limited number of a few hundred objects, and the results are practically solely based on thermophysical modeling (TPM).

Realization of Thermal Inertia in Frequency Domain

open access: yesEntropy, 2014
To realize the lagging behavior in heat conduction observed in these two decades, this paper firstly theoretically excludes the possibility that the underlying thermal inertia is a result of the time delay in heat diffusion.

The thermal inertia time constants and its influencing factors in the thermal dynamic process of overhead line and cable [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
Due to the existence of thermal capacity, the conductor temperature of overhead line and cable changes later than current steps (thermal inertia), and the thermal dynamic process of the conductor contains the huge current-carrying potential.

Thermal-electrical analogy and inertia for thermal performance of building envelops [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
For transient thermal performance of building envelops adequate parameters are needed to capture the time lag and decrement factor. It is surprising that, in the formal electrical analogy, "inertia" is not represented by same components in fluid ...

Thermal inertia at the MSL and InSight mission sites on Mars

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2022
For planetary surface materials, thermal inertia is the critical property that governs the surface’s daily thermal response and controls diurnal and seasonal surface temperature variations.

Analysis of the thermal inertia of pipelines in SHIP

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
Solar Heat for Industrial Processes (SHIP) is one of the most promising alternatives to decarbonize the industry. The present work aims to analyze the influence of thermal pipelines inertia on a small-scale solar concentrator of 20 kW with a phase-change
