Spacecraft and Asteroid Thermal Image Generation for Proximity Navigation and Detection Scenarios

open access: yesApplied Sciences
On-orbit autonomous relative navigation performance strongly depends on both sensor suite and state reconstruction selection. Whenever that suite relies on image-based sensors working in the visible spectral band, the illumination conditions strongly ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Lithological mapping by remote sensing using emittance information in the thermal infrared region [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The aims of this study were to assess existing techniques, and develop new methods for extracting the geologically significant parameter spectral emittance from passive multispectral scanner data in the Thermal Infrared.

Testbed for thermal imager characterization using an infrared scene projector

open access: yes, 2022
Paper 107950K, 14 S.Based on previous work on thermal imager performance analysis at Fraunhofer IOSB using specific scenes and patterns, we present our advances in setting up a testbed for thermal imager characterization with a MIRAGETM XL infrared scene

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

USING OF THERMAL STRUCTURE MAPS FOR VEGETATION MAPPING (CASE OF ALTACHEYSKY WILDLIFE AREA)

open access: yesInterCarto. InterGIS, 2014
Thermal infrared imagery contains considerable amount of qualitative information about ground objects and landscapes. In spite of it, this type of data is often used to derive quantitative information such as land or sea surface temperatures.

Aerial Visible-to-Infrared Image Translation: Dataset, Evaluation, and Baseline

open access: yesJournal of Remote Sensing, 2023
Aerial visible-to-infrared image translation aims to transfer aerial visible images to their corresponding infrared images, which can effectively generate the infrared images of specific targets.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Entropy and Contrast Enhancement of Infrared Thermal Images Using the Multiscale Top-Hat Transform

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Discrete entropy is used to measure the content of an image, where a higher value indicates an image with richer details. Infrared images are capable of revealing important hidden targets. The disadvantage of this type of image is that their low contrast
