Balloon-borne three-meter telescope for far-infrared and submillimeter astronomy [PDF]

open access: yes
The study and revision of the gimbal design of the Three-Meter Balloon Borne Telescope (TMBBT) is discussed. Efforts were made to eliminate the alignment and limited rotation problems inherent in the flex-pivot design. A new design using ball bearings to

Combinatorial Nb‐Doped TiO2 Wafers: Phase‐Defect Coengineering for Efficient and Reusable Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Combinatorial Nb‐doped TiO2 wafers with a lateral dopant gradient enable rapid mapping of how phase composition and defects influence photocatalytic activity. Optimized Nb content generates mixed anatase–rutile phases together with beneficial Ti3+ and oxygen vacancy defects, boosting dye‐degradation efficiency fivefold.

1700 deg C optical temperature sensor [PDF]

open access: yes
A new gas temperature sensor was developed that shows promise of sufficient ruggedness to be useful as a gas turbine temperature sensor. The sensor is in the form of a single-crystal aluminum oxide ceramic, ground to a cone shape and given an emissive ...

Poly(Methyl Methacrylate)/Halloysite Nanotubes‐Based Nanocomposite Gel Polymer Electrolytes for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 2, March 2026.
This work prepares nanocomposite gel polymer electrolytes (NCGPEs) using poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) that are first modified with γ‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (γ‐MPS) and subsequently grafted with PMMA (mHNT‐g‐PMMA).

Incorporating ethylene glycol into hydrophilic poly(ether‐b‐amide) membranes for enhanced gas dehumidification performance

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page 1449-1462, March 2026.
Using ethylene glycol to enhance water vapour permeation for gas dehumidification. Abstract In the present study, ethylene glycol (EG) was incorporated into hydrophilic poly(ether‐b‐amide) matrix membranes to enhance the membrane performance for gas dehumidification (e.g., H2O/N2, H2O/CH4, and H2O/CO2 separations). Exploiting EG as a hygroscopic agent,

Immobilization of Titanium Dioxide Ultrathin Films onto Porous Membranes via Atomic Layer Deposition for Photodegradation of Water‐Borne Pollutants

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
Ultrathin films (11.9–28.05 nm) of TiO2 and TiO2−x were deposited onto two different types of membrane supports under a wide range of conditions (annealing temperature and gas ambient) and underwent high throughput screening to realize photocatalytic membranes that achieve high removal of dye pollutants (methyl orange and tartrazine 85) using simulated
