Coherent Control of Nitrogen Nuclear Spins via the VB−${\rm V}_B^-$‐Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates coherent control of 15N nuclear spins coupled to VB−${\text{V}}_{\text{B}}^{-}$ centers in isotope‐enriched hexagonal boron nitride. Selective addressing via spin‐state mixing enables Rabi driving, quantum gates, and coherence times exceeding 10 μs$\umu{\rm s}$.

Experimental evaluation of transition rate of sapphire crystal for thermal and fast neutrons using MNSR vertical neutron beam line

open access: yesHeliyon
Using a perfect single crystal as a neutron filter allows us to have a thermal neutron beam with almost no background of fast neutrons. Single crystals of Al2O3 (sapphire) have proven to be effective filters for fast neutrons and are incorporated into ...

Neutron flux variations near the Earth’s crust. A possible tectonic activity detection [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2003
The present work contains some results of observations of neutron flux variations near the Earth’s surface. The Earth’s crust is determined to be a significant source of thermal and slow neutrons, originated from the interaction between the nuclei of ...

Multipurpose Transparent Nanocomposites for Gamma Spectroscopy, Pulse Shape Discrimination, Thermal Neutron Detection, Radiation Shielding, and High Refractive Index Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials exist that are useful for gamma scintillation, radiation shielding, neutron‐gamma pulse shape discrimination (PSD), thermal neutron detection, or high refractive index applications. While certain materials have exhibited optimal performance for each of these applications, none achieve multiple functions.

Effect of reflected neutrons for fast pulsed reactor characteristics with metallic nuclear fuel

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundFast neutron pulsed reactors are sensitive to wall scattering neutrons, and their waveforms are changed by reflected neutrons. In addition, their operation may be adversely affected when there are too many reflected neutrons.PurposeThis study ...

Determination of Neutron Flux in Brain Cancer Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Using Monte Carlo Simulation

open access: yesPhysics Communication, 2022
Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a relatively safer technology for killing cancer cells, one of which is the Glioblastoma multiforme. One of the main components of the BNCT equipment is the collimator which functions as an exit point for ...

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...
