Ejector Performance of a Pump-less Ejector Refrigeration System Driven by Solar Thermal Energy

open access: yes, 2012
Ejector refrigeration is considered as one of the three main ways of refrigeration and air-conditioning to utilize lowgrade energy. Use of pump-less technology to eliminate the mechanical circulating pump of the working fluid from condenser to generator ...

Screening Routine Clinical Notes for Epilepsy Surgery Candidates Using Large Language Models

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy surgery is severely underutilized despite proven efficacy, with substantial under‐referral of eligible patients in routine clinical practice. This study evaluated the potential role of large language models (LLMs) as decision‐support tools for screening unstructured clinical notes to identify epilepsy surgery candidates and ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Diet effects on ectotherm thermal performance

open access: yesBiological Reviews
ABSTRACTThe environment is changing rapidly, and considerable research is aimed at understanding the capacity of organisms to respond. Changes in environmental temperature are particularly concerning as most animals are ectothermic, with temperature considered a key factor governing their ecology, biogeography, behaviour and physiology.

Coupling of dynamic thermal bridge and whole-building simulation

open access: yes, 2022
S.693-701The effect of thermal bridges on the overall energy performance of buildings is not fully taken into account in standard compliance methods. Steady-state methods are predominately deployed for thermal bridge analysis. One important issue that is

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
