Optimal Control of Thermal Power Plants
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1989Application of optimal control system to thermal power plants is introduced. The suggested system consists of the conventional PID controllers and the control computer. It has been successfully applied to five supercritical power plants in Kyushu Electric Power Company (Total output 2,700 MW) since 1978.

Thermal Power Plants in Turkey
Energy Sources, 2003The objective of this article is to investigate the status of thermal power plants (TPPs) in Turkey as of the end of 2000. Thermal resources meet approximately 60% of Turkey’s total installed capacity for electric power generation, while 75% of total electricity is generated from TPPs.

Experimental thermal behavior of a power plant reheater
Energy, 2004Abstract The process conditions of power plant components subjected to high pressures and temperatures are essential to determine their remaining life, availability and efficiency. It is, therefore, expedient to pay special attention to critical components, such as superheater and reheater heat exchangers, headers, and main and reheated steam lines ...

Energetic comparison of solar thermal power plants
Solar Energy Materials, 1991Abstract The power production technologies based on the central receiver (tower), parabolic trough and the parabolic dish/Stirling concept are compared on the level of annually produced electric energy by means of the following tools: - input/output characteristics on daily basis; - annual system and subsystem efficiencies; - diurnal plant

Integration of Battery Energy Storage in Thermal Power Plant
IECON 2020 The 46th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2020The paper focus on the benefits of close integration of battery based energy storage directly into thermal plants. The attention is paid to use of the energy storage for primary frequency control in cooperation with classical steam turbine control. The model topology of the turbomachinery with all modifications is described and discussed.

Robust decentralized stabilization of thermal-power plants
Proceedings of 2003 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2003. CCA 2003., 2004This paper develops a robust decentralized stabilization method of thermal-power plants using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). This method guarantees robust stability and provides /spl Hscr/;/sub /spl infin// rejection of time-varying and norm-bounded parametric uncertainties.

Ocean Thermal Gradient Hydraulic Power Plant
Science, 1975Solar energy stored in the oceans may be used to generate power by exploiting thermal gradients. A proposed open-cycle system uses low-pressure steam to elevate water, which is then run through a hydraulic turbine to generate power. The device is analogous to an air lift pump.

Recent Application of Thermal Spray to Thermal Power Plants
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2009Abstract This paper presents recent developments in thermal spray coating technology for thermal power plants. As for thermal barrier coatings for gas turbines, to accommodate the high gas temperatures required to improve thermal efficiency, a new ceramic topcoat material with low conductivity was developed.
