Observation of nonvanishing optical helicity in thermal radiation from symmetry-broken metasurfaces. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Adv, 2023
We experimentally demonstrate magnetic-field-free circular-polarized thermal radiation based on a symmetry-broken metasurface. A nonvanishing optical helicity in the radiation excited by thermal fluctuations is observed in a dispersionless energy band.

Metasurfaces Assisted Twisted α-MoO3 for Spinning Thermal Radiation [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Spinning thermal radiation has demonstrated applications in engineering, such as radiation detection and biosensing. In this paper, we propose a new spin thermal radiation emitter composed of the twisted bilayer α-MoO3 metasurface; in our study, it ...

Nonclassicality of thermal radiation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Optics B: Quantum and Semiclassical Optics, 2004
It is demonstrated that thermal radiation of small occupation number is strongly nonclassical. This includes most forms of naturally occurring radiation. Nonclassicality can be observed as a negative weak value of a positive observable. It is related to negative values of the Margenau-Hill quasi-probability distribution.

Temperature-independent thermal radiation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2019
Significance Conventional wisdom states that the hotter an object is, the brighter it glows. This is the case for thermal light at any wavelength and enables applications such as infrared imaging and noncontact thermometry. We demonstrate a coating that emits the same amount of thermal radiation irrespective of temperature, within a ...

Dual-band nonreciprocal thermal radiation by coupling optical Tamm states in magnetophotonic multilayers [PDF]

open access: yesInternational journal of thermal sciences, 2021
Kirchhoff s law is one of the most fundamental law in thermal radiation. The violation of traditional Kirchhoff s law provides opportunities for higher energy conversion efficiency.

Violating Kirchhoff’s Law of Thermal Radiation in Semitransparent Structures [PDF]

open access: yesConference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2021
We design a nonreciprocal thermal emitter that features absorptivity-emissivity contrast in semitransparent setting, by using magneto-optical effect.

Temperature gradient of the natural water surface thermal radiation [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
The dependence of the thermal radiation of natural water on its kinetic temperature in the temperature range of 7-70 degrees Celsius was experimentally investigated.

Numerical analysis of magnetohydrodynamics Casson nanofluid flow with activation energy, Hall current and thermal radiation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In this study we analyzed the flow, heat and mass transfer behavior of Casson nanofluid past an exponentially stretching surface under the impact of activation energy, Hall current, thermal radiation, heat source/sink, Brownian motion and thermophoresis.
