A Soil Thermal Model for Remote Sensing

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1987
A simulation model of the heat exchange at the soil surface is used to study the effects of the soil characteristics, the initial temperature profile, and the boundary conditions on the surface temperatures. The surface temperature cycle is found to be insensitive to both the initial temperature profile and the lower boundary conditions.

Thermal Remote Sensing of Active Volcanoes

2013
Encapsulating over one hundred years of research developments, this book is a comprehensive manual for measurements of Earth surface temperatures and heat fluxes, enabling better detection and measurement of volcanic activity. With a particular focus on volcanic hot spots, the book explores methodologies and principles used with satellite-, radiometer-

Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing of Geothermal Systems

2013
In areas of anomalously high crustal heat flow, geothermal systems transfer heat to the Earth’s surface often forming surface expressions such as hot springs, fumaroles, heated ground, and associated mineral deposits. Geothermal systems are increasingly important as sources of renewable energy, or as natural wonders of protected status attracting ...

Thermal remote sensing of urban surface temperatures

2009
Thermal remote sensors have been used extensively to examine urban surface temperature patterns but without explicit consideration of the complex form of the urban surface. This research investigates the extent of possible biases which may be present due to the unique structure of the urban surface and is an attempt to address some of the issues raised
