This review traces the evolution of lithium‐ion battery separators from passive barriers to multifunctional components central to cell safety and performance. Polymer‐ceramic hybrids, nanofiber architectures, and bio‐derived membranes deliver ionic conductivities above 3 mS cm−1, thermal stability beyond 200 °C, and effective suppression of lithium ...

Constrained hyperbolic divergence cleaning in smoothed particle magnetohydrodynamics with variable cleaning speeds [PDF]
We present an updated constrained hyperbolic/parabolic divergence cleaning algorithm for smoothed particle magnetohydrodynamics (SPMHD) that remains conservative with wave cleaning speeds which vary in space and time. This is accomplished by evolving the

Autoignition in nonpremixed flow [PDF]
The objective of this investigation has been to improve understanding of autoignition processes in nonpremixed flow fields of the types encountered in Diesel-engine ignition, through theoretical analyses that employ asymptotic methods of applied ...

Phase Diagrams Enable Solid‐State Battery Design
Batteries are non‐equilibrium devices with inherent thermodynamic driving forces to react at interfaces, regardless of kinetics or operating conditions. Chemical potential mismatches across interfaces are dissipated via interfacial reactions. In this work, it is illustrated how phase diagrams and chemical potential maps predict degradation pathways but

The Convective Urca Process with Implicit Two-Dimensional Hydrodynamics
Consideration of the role of the convective flux in the thermodymics of the convective Urca neutrino loss process in degenerate, convective, quasi-static, carbon-burning cores shows that the convective Urca process slows down the convective current ...

Impact of Oxygen Plasma Pre‐Treatment on Thermal Oxidation and Reliability of SiO2 on 4H‐SiC
We investigate how oxygen plasma pre‐treatment affects the thermal oxidation of silicon carbide. While plasma modification increases growth rates by 84%, it reduces dielectric breakdown strength by 18%. Our findings reveal that although plasma improves the interface state density, it introduces structural damage, highlighting a critical trade‐off ...

Proton synchrotron radiation of large-scale jets in active galactic nuclei [PDF]
I propose a new mechanism for explanation of nonthernal X-ray emission of large-scale AGN jets. Namely, I assume that this radiation has synchrotron origin emitted by extremely high energy protons, and discuss implications of this model for several ...

Direct Mode‐Resolved Measurement of Interfacial Phonon Transport by Acoustic Phonon Reflectometry
We introduce a novel analysis, acoustic phonon reflectometry, that measures the mode‐resolved phonon reflection coefficient at semiconductor interfaces. In aluminum nitride, we observe excellent agreement with the acoustic mismatch model across three distinct interfaces.
