Spatial structure of Yangzhou’ s old public bathrooms: a space syntax analysis of the topological characteristics of their unique sensory space

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering, 2023
Sensory experience is vital in creating a local identity in historical buildings and should ideally be conserved along with basic spatial structure. Hence, this study explores the relation between the spatial structure and thermal sensation experience by

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

The Thermal Responses between Young Adults and Preschool Children in a Radiant Floor Heating Environment

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
The thermal comfort of preschool children was assumed to be similar to that of young adults, which may cause inaccuracy. This study tested and analyzed the thermal response characteristics of young adults and preschool children (4–6 years old) and the ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Modelling Residential Outdoor Thermal Sensation in Hot Summer Cities: A Case Study in Chongqing, China

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Exposure to extreme heat is a significant public health problem and the primary cause of weather-related mortality, which can be anticipated by accurately predicting outdoor thermal sensation.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Determinación de los intervalos de confort y estrés térmico para espacios abiertos en la ciudad de Maringá (PR), Brasil, utilizando el índice PET

open access: yesDesenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente, 2019
Prediction models of thermal comfort in open spaces are considered a fundamental tool in neighborhood planning, as well as in open space design within urban areas. However, most of these indices were developed for cold climates.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Thermal sensations of secondary schoolchildren in summer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hygiene, 1973
SUMMARYSummer thermal sensations of secondary schoolchildren in England are compared with those earlier published for winter. Heat stress, contrary to expectation, is seen to decrease during the warm months, and neutrality is found to increase by some 6° F.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected
