Study on biomimetic staggered composite for better thermal shock resistance

open access: yes, 2012
Inspired by the fact that biological composites have the excellent resistance to mechanical shock, we systematically studied the thermal shock resistance of biomimetic staggered composite via analytical, computational and experimental approaches.

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Development of TiO2-doped MgO refractories with enhanced corrosion resistance for preparing high-purity nickel-based superalloys

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
MgO refractories extensively applied in melting nickel-based superalloys are limited by their poor thermal shock resistance and susceptibility to melt erosion. This study regulated the phase composition of MgO refractories by doping TiO2 to improve their

Mechanically Spatio‐Chimeric Fibrin Assembly Enables Vascular‐Integrated Muscle Reconstruction for Volumetric Muscle Loss Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
SPARC (spatio‐chimeric, plasma‐based, anisotropic, and shear‐responsive construct) that integrates myogenic and vascular microenvironments within a single construct. The dual‐modulus matrix directs aligned myotube formation and endothelial network development, enabling a vascularized muscle implant that seamlessly anastomoses with host tissue and ...
