Electrically Induced Phase Transition and Synaptic Functionality in MoTe2/Graphene Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An electrically induced reversible 2H ↔ 1T′ phase transition is demonstrated in a vertical Au/Ti/MoTe2/graphene memristor with a laterally contacted graphene electrode. Resistive switching proceeds through a compositionally invariant amorphous/2H ↔ amorphous/1T′ transformation, in which a self‐formed amorphous MoTe2 interfacial region is proposed to ...

Confinement in Metal‐Organic Frameworks as a Route to Harnessing Liquid Barocalorics in the Solid‐State

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Encapsulation of solid–liquid barocalorics (BC) within MOFs harnesses their colossal BC performance whilst allowing active control of BC properties through BC‐MOF interactions. ABSTRACT Barocaloric (BC) effects at liquid–vapor transitions in hydrofluorocarbons drive most commercial technologies used for heating and cooling in the heating, ventilation ...

Study of stimulation mechanism of hydraulic fracturing induced thermal shock on joint system of geothermal reservoirs

open access: yesScientific Reports
Hydraulic fracturing has been prevailingly applied to induce thermal shock in geothermal reservoirs for the utilization of geothermal energy. With natural joints commonly distribute in the reservoirs, the stimulation mechanism of thermal shock on joint ...

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Caving‐enhanced geothermal system overwhelms fracturing‐ and pipe‐enhanced geothermal system in heat extraction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering
Fracturing a geothermal reservoir of hot dry rock (HDR) by the engineered stimulation is a prerequisite to efficient heat extraction of an enhanced geothermal system (EGS).

Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.
