Thermal weights for semiclassical vibrational response functions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2015
Semiclassical approximations to response functions can allow the calculation of linear and nonlinear spectroscopic observables from classical dynamics. Evaluating a canonical response function requires the related tasks of determining thermal weights for initial states and computing the dynamics of these states.

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

New insights into combined thermal and vibration softening of magnesium alloy in rotational vibration assisted incremental sheet forming

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
With the generation of both localised thermal and vibration in incremental sheet forming (ISF) by novel tool designs, rotational vibration assisted ISF (RV-ISF) can achieve significant force reduction and material softening. However, the combined thermal

Vibrational and thermal properties of crystalline topiramate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2008
Topiramate, a powerful anticonvulsant drug, was investigated by X-ray diffractometry, FT-Raman, FT-IR, TGA and DTA techniques as well as by DFT calculations. From this study it was possible to tentatively assign most of the normal vibrational modes of the crystal. Thermal analysis from room temperature to 900 oC shows that the material does not present

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Thermoelastic coupling vibration analysis of precision coated TPU film

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) films are subjected to heating in production. As the temperature rises, thermal stress will be generated inside the TPU film.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.
