Mineralization of vegetable oils used for thermal weed control in arable soils [PDF]
Hot vegetable oil can be used for weed control as an alternative to the use of herbicides. We analysed the temporal development of vegetable oil mineralization in soil and tested the role of nutrient supply on oil mineralization. Further, we investigated the effect of oil application on mineralization of native soil organic carbon (SOC), i.e.

Thermal Weed Control in Photinia x fraseri “Red Robin” Container Nurseries [PDF]
Abstract. A near-zero tolerance policy on weeds by markets for nursery crops calls for weed-free container-grown plants, and forces growers to frequently remove weeds. Thermal weed control could represent a novel method to control weeds in shrubs from container nurseries, thus avoiding the use of herbicides and mulches.

Laser weeding of common weed species
The massive use of herbicides since the 1950s has resulted in increasing problems with herbicideresistant weeds and pollution of the environment, including food, feed, and water. These side effects have resulted in political pressures to reduce herbicide

Management Effect on the Weed Control Efficiency in Double Cropping Systems
There are often negative side-effects associated with the traditional (silage) maize cropping system related to the unprotected soil surface. Reducing soil disturbance could enhance system sustainability.

AI‐Enhanced Laser Manufacturing: A Social Life Cycle Perspective From the White Goods Industry
ABSTRACT Sustainable manufacturing transitions require companies to demonstrate not only environmental and economic benefits, but also measurable advances in corporate social responsibility (CSR). Therefore, we propose using a guideline‐based Social Life Cycle Assessment (S‐LCA) aligned with UNEP (2020) and ISO 14075 (2024) to evaluate the social ...

Laser weed seed control: challenges and opportunities
Farmers are greatly interested in reducing weed seeds in their fields to avoid unnecessary weed infestation. Autonomous vehicles equipped with plant recognition systems and lasers can be used to control weed plants and may therefore be used to replace or
