Suppression Mechanisms of Stratified Jet-in-Crossflow on Thermoacoustic Instability and NOx Emissions in Premixed Combustors

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The premixed combustion of a gas turbine is prone to thermoacoustic oscillation, which affects the safety of combustion systems. This study experimentally investigated the suppression mechanism of a stratified jet-in-crossflow on the thermoacoustic ...

Experimental Study of Suppressing the Thermoacoustic Instabilities in a Rijke Tube Using Microsecond Discharge Plasma

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
Thermoacoustic instabilities occur when heat release is coupled with pressure fluctuation, which may cause performance degradation of the combustor and serious structural damage.

An Experimental PIV/POD Study on the Sequentially Coupled Flow Field of Swirl and Multiple Jets

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The stepwise flow reconstruction induced by sequential coupling of swirl, primary jets, and dilution jets was experimentally investigated in a model combustor using high‐speed PIV and proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Three nonreacting configurations were compared: pure swirl, swirl plus primary jets, and swirl with both primary and dilution jets.

Breath by Breath: Navigating the Landscape of Exhaled Breath in Clinical Research and Prospects for the Future

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Exhaled breath analysis (EBA) has evolved as a noninvasive diagnostic technique with enormous promise in healthcare. The development in this area is based on the concept that the breathalyzers employed to measure the alcohol concentration in the blood can be utilized to evaluate health by analyzing the intricate chemical makeup of exhaled breath, which

Structural Stability of the Moore–Gibson–Thompson Heat Equation in a Semi‐Infinite Cylindrical Domain

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This work analyzes the continuous dependence of solutions to the Moore–Gibson–Thompson (MGT) equation formulated via Green–Naghdi Type III second gradient elasticity theory. The governing system is defined on a semi‐infinite cylindrical domain, subject to homogeneous Dirichlet conditions on the lateral boundary.

Harnessing Photo‐Energy Conversion in Nanomaterials for Precision Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 48, December 3, 2025.
Harnessing photo‐energy conversion in nanomaterials enables precision theranostics through light‐driven mechanisms such as photoluminescence, photothermal, photoelectric, photoacoustic, photo‐triggered surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and photodynamic processes. This review explores six fundamental principles of photo‐energy conversion, recent

Sodium‐based, geopolymer foamed composites reinforced with phosphate mine waste particulates and hemp/basalt fibers

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract This study investigated the mechanical, microstructural, and thermal properties of Na‐based geopolymer foams (GPFs) reinforced with varying amounts of two types of reinforcements: raw phosphate mine waste rock (PMWR) as a particulate filler, and natural (hemp) or synthetic (basalt) fibers.
