Efficiency Optimization of a Standing-Wave Thermoacoustic Heat Engine

49th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2011
Thermoacoustic heat engines (TAHE) are capable of producing acoustic energy from any source of heat energy. Thus, the primary energy source to drive the engine could be conventional or unconventional that includes industrial waste heat, solar energy and fossil fuels. It has no moving parts thus; chances of mechanical failure are extremely low.

Stack/Heat-Exchanger Research for Thermoacoustic Heat Engines.

1996
Abstract : The goal of this project was to develop novel configurations of heat pumping elements and heat exchangers for thermoacoustic heat engines. The approach involved the use anisotropic systems employing innovative technology. The approach allowed a heat exchange fluid to flow directly across the heat pumping element of the thermoacoustic heat ...

Evaluation of pressure volume characteristics for thermoacoustic heat engine

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
Thermoacoustic heat engine is one of the technological systems that can convert heat energy into acoustic energy. The system also can bring more benefit to the earth because from the waste heat resulted, it can create energy that we called renewable energy.

Numerical study of heat transfer in parallel-plate heat exchangers in thermoacoustic engine

Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016
For designing thermoacoustic devices, heat transfer problem of heat exchangers is a key point and is not solved completely yet. In the present study, both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and numerical analysis based on linear thermoacoustic theory are performed, and heat transfer characteristics, heat fluxes, and Nusselt numbers are ...

Design of a thermoacoustic heat engine for low temperature waste heat recovery in food manufacturing: A thermoacoustic device for heat recovery

2015
There is currently an urgent demand to reuse waste heat from industrial processes with approaches that require minimal investment and low cost of ownership. Thermoacoustic heat engines (TAHEs) are a kind of prime mover that convert thermal energy to acoustic energy, consisting of two heat exchangers and a stack of parallel plates, all enclosed in a ...

Hydrogen/Oxygen Propellant Densifier Thermoacoustic Stirling Heat Engine

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
A unique, patent pending, thermoacoustic propellant densifier for the simultaneous densification of hydrogen and oxygen propellants for aerospace vehicles is introduced. The densifier uses a high‐pressure amplitude, low‐frequency Thermoacoustic Stirling Heat Engine (TASHE) coupled with a uniquely designed half‐wave‐length resonator to drive a pulse ...
