Metamaterial‐Augmented Head‐Mounted Audio Module
A metamaterial‐transducer resonant coupling is proposed inside a head‐mounted audio module to achieve a 3–7 dB broadband sound pressure level improvement within 50–700 Hz, which is the most challenging frequency range for radiation enhancement. The acoustic metamaterial not only enhances voltage sensitivity near the intrinsic metamaterial resonance ...

Thermoacoustic instabilities in gasturbine combustor systems can be predicted in the design phase with a thermoacoustic network model. In this model, the coupling between acoustic pressure fluctuations and the combustion rate is described by the Flame ...

Vorticity contours in a three‐dimensional bluff‐body combustor. Abstract The objective of this study is to develop and apply efficient solution techniques for numerical modeling of combustion with stiff chemical kinetics in practical combustors. The new technique combines a fourth‐order implicit‐explicit (IMEX) additive Runge‐Kutta scheme (ARK) with ...

Abstract Predictive functional control (PFC) is a straightforward and cheap model‐based technique for systematic control of well‐damped open‐loop processes. Nevertheless, its oversimplified design characteristics are often the cause of diminished efficacy in more challenging applications; processes involving lightly damped and/or unstable dynamics have

Thermoacoustic Instabilities in the Rijke Tube: Experiments and Modeling [PDF]
Thermoacoustic instability can appear in thermal devices when unsteady heat release is coupled with pressure perturbations. This effect results in excitation of eigen acoustic modes of the system.

Accounting for convective effects in zero-Mach-number thermoacoustic models [PDF]
This paper presents a methodology to account for some mean-flow effects on thermo-acoustic instabilities when using the zero-Mach-number assumption. It is shown that when a computational domain is represented under the M=0 assumption, a nonzero-Mach ...

This work introduces a method to detect and optimize the flame front boundary. A high‐speed camera was employed to continuously capture the flame images. By setting appropriate intensity thresholds, the impact noise can be eliminated from the image and the flame front boundary can be determined.

The complex bursting oscillation and bifurcation mechanisms in coupling systems of different scales have been a hot spot domestically and overseas. In this paper, we analyze the bursting oscillation of a generalized Duffing–Van der Pol system with periodic excitation.
