Surface Impedance Determination via Numerical Resolution of the Inverse Helmholtz Problem
Assigning boundary conditions, such as acoustic impedance, to the frequency domain thermoviscous wave equations (TWE), derived from the linearized Navier-Stokes equations (LNSE) poses a Helmholtz problem, solution to which yields a discrete set of ...

Causality and intrinsic thermoacoustic instability modes
Direct numerical simulation of a confined laminar premixed flame has been performed in an anechoic combustor, showing self-sustained intrinsic thermoacoustic oscillations. Theoretical predictions based on acoustic jump relations and the n − τ model for the flame are presented and causality concerns are discussed.

High Temperature Dynamic Pressure Measurements Using Silicon Carbide Pressure Sensors [PDF]
Un-cooled, MEMS-based silicon carbide (SiC) static pressure sensors were used for the first time to measure pressure perturbations at temperatures as high as 600 C during laboratory characterization, and subsequently evaluated in a combustor rig operated

Characterization and Simulation of the Thermoacoustic Instability Behavior of an Advanced, Low Emissions Combustor Prototype [PDF]
Extensive research is being done toward the development of ultra-low-emissions combustors for aircraft gas turbine engines. However, these combustors have an increased susceptibility to thermoacoustic instabilities.

Mitigation of thermoacoustic instabilities via porous plugs
The interaction between the dynamics of a flame front and the acoustic field within a combustion chamber represents an aerothermochemical problem with the potential to generate hazardous instabilities, which limit burner performance by constraining design and operational parameters.
