Condensation in a steady-flow thermoacoustic refrigerator
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2000Condensation may occur in an open-flow thermoacoustic cooler with stack temperatures below the saturation temperature of the flowing gas. In the experimental device described here the flowing gas, which is also the acoustic medium, is humid air, so the device acts as a flow-through dehumidifier. The humid air stream flows through an acoustic resonator.

The optimal stack spacing for thermoacoustic refrigeration
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002The characteristic pore dimension in the stack is an important parameter in the design of thermoacoustic refrigerators. A quantitative experimental investigation into the effect of the pore dimensions on the performance of thermoacoustic devices is reported. Parallel-plate stacks with a plate spacing varying between 0.15 and 0.7 mm are manufactured and

Experimental studies on thermoacoustic refrigeration
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996Thermoacoustic refrigeration phenomena in a resonance tube were studied experimentally. A horizontal brass tube of 400 mm in length and 40 mm in diameter was closed at one end and attached to the acoustic driver (audio speaker) at the other end. Atmospheric air was enclosed in the tube as a working fluid.

Experimental investigation of an adjustable thermoacoustically-driven thermoacoustic refrigerator
International Journal of Refrigeration, 2018Abstract An experimental investigation is conducted on a new adjustable thermoacoustically-driven thermoacoustic refrigerator (TADTAR). This refrigerator comprises of a thermoacoustic engine which drives a thermoacoustic refrigerator. This study aims to demonstrate the possibility to alter the TADTAR performance through the adjustment of specific ...

Experimental study of a thermoacoustically-driven traveling wave thermoacoustic refrigerator
Cryogenics, 2011Abstract New configurations of traveling wave thermoacoustic refrigerators driven by a traveling wave thermoacoustic engine were introduced and tested in this paper. First, the performance of the refrigerator with different-diameter inertance tubes was investigated experimentally.

Sensorless control of a thermoacoustic refrigerator
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2004A method for commanding the frequency of the signal that drives an electrodynamic sound source to maintain the coupled thermoacoustic resonator at its resonance frequency is described. The method uses only the current and voltage applied to the source terminals to select the operating frequency, thereby eliminating the need for pressure and ...

Numerical optimization of a novel thermoacoustically driven thermoacoustic refrigerator
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997Previous modeling work on a novel heat-driven refrigerator has generated overall COP numbers in the range of 0.45 using pure helium gas. The modeled conditions are for commercial or air-conditioning cooling temperatures, with a hot drive temperature of 400 °C.
