Modular thermoacoustic refrigerator [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1993
A thermoacoustic refrigerator was built to explore scaling to large heat flux. The refrigerator was constructed according to a modular design so that various stack, heat exchanger, and resonator sections are easily interchangeable. The resonator is driven by a commercial 10-in. woofer. Initial tests, using pure helium gas as the working fluid and steel

Using a side-branched volume to tune the acoustic field in a looped-tube travelling-wave thermoacoustic engine with a RC load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Travelling-wave thermoacoustic engine utilises a compact acoustic network to obtain a right time-phasing between the acoustic velocity and pressure oscillations within the regenerator to force gas parcels to experience a Stirling-like thermodynamic cycle.

Effects of cold‐end temperature and heat load on the cooling characteristics of a pulse tube refrigerator

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 731-739, March 2020., 2020
A coupling model of the PTR by using REGEN and DeltaEC is built for investigating the effects of the cold‐end temperature and cold load on the cooling efficiency. Some experiments are performed on a PTR working at different cold‐end temperature and cold load which are in good agreement with the simulation results.
