Automatic Adaptive and Targeted Localized Refinement in Transient Structural Dynamic Simulations Using the Multiresolution Finite Wavelet Domain Method

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 1, 15 January 2026.
ABSTRACT The multiresolution finite wavelet domain method has been meticulously studied in numerous wave propagation simulations, showing excellent convergence properties and very fast computing times. The multiresolution procedure always starts with the coarse solution, and then finer solutions can be superimposed on the coarse solution until ...

Determination of air-tightness of the packagings of electronic devices by the thermoacoustic method

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2005
The method of determination of air-tightness of packagings based on the measurement of the thermoacoustic signals generated by transistor chips is described in this paper. This method makes possible the estimation of the radius of the hole

Sensitive and Cost‐Effective Detection of Gamma Rays Using Cd‐Functionalized QTF and MEMS–Based Microcantilever Sensors

open access: yesIET Nanobiotechnology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Ionizing radiation poses a serious health risk to humans; therefore, sensitive detection is significant. Gamma rays are a form of ionizing radiation that can pass through the human body and interact with matter through ionization. Several techniques have been conventionally used to detect ionizing radiation.

Study of Taconis-Based Cryogenic Thermoacoustic Engine with Hydrogen and Helium

open access: yesEnergies
Taconis oscillations represent spontaneous excitation of acoustic modes in tubes with large temperature gradients in cryogenic systems. In this study, Taconis oscillations in hydrogen and helium systems are enhanced with a porous material resulting in a ...

An Experimental PIV/POD Study on the Sequentially Coupled Flow Field of Swirl and Multiple Jets

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The stepwise flow reconstruction induced by sequential coupling of swirl, primary jets, and dilution jets was experimentally investigated in a model combustor using high‐speed PIV and proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Three nonreacting configurations were compared: pure swirl, swirl plus primary jets, and swirl with both primary and dilution jets.

COMSOL's New Thermoacoustics Interface and Computationally Efficient Alternative Formulations for FEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Three efficient alternatives to the model in COMSOL’s thermoacoustics interface are presented. The higher efficiency of these models are explained from theory and are demonstrated by means of two ...
