Thermochemolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Thermochemolysis-GC-MS) was applied to detect fatty acid oxidation products in a single Drosophila melanogaster individual (dry weight: 100-400 µg). Linoleic acid oxidized under UV irradiation was first analyzed to identify characteristic oxidation products, including azelaic acid.
