On textile printing with thermochromic inks
This thesis describes an exploration of the principles of applying leuco dye-based inks to textile design practice. The main motivation has been to explore the design properties and potentials of leuco dye-based thermochromic inks when printed on textiles in order to obtain an understanding and facilitate the design of dynamic surface patterns.

Colorimetric description of thermochromic printing inks
The dynamic colour of three commercial reversible thermochromic inks were studied. Thermochromic print-ing inks change their colour according to a change in temperature. The two types of thermochromic inks are based on leuco dyes and liquid crystals. The thermochromic effect achieved by liquid crystals is quite different from the effect achieved with ...

How to Visually Represent the Colour Theory of Thermochromic Inks
Colour theories have been established in order to allow artists and designers to understand the relationship between colours, and to determine how a chosen colour will react or interact with another. Smart colours - such as leuco dye-based thermochromic inks - have entered into the textile and fashion design world, bringing with them new challenges ...

Thermochromorph: Dynamic Relief Printing with Thermochromic Inks
SA Art Papers ’24, December 03–06, 2024, Tokyo, Japan ; Thermochromorph is a novel relief printing technique that produces multicolored images that transition into each other through changes in temperature. Our process utilizes two sets of CMYK thermochromic inks that exhibit complementary color-changing behaviors: one shifting from color to ...

ON TEXTILE PRINTING WITH THERMOCHROMIC INKS
What are thermochromic inks? They are colouring agents characterised by their ability to, when printed on textiles, change colour in response to temperature fluctuations. Below their activation temperature they are coloured, and above their activation temperature they are clear or have a light hue.
