Statistics for Fission-Track Thermochronology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter introduces statistical tools to extract geologically meaningful information from fission-track (FT) data using both the external detector and LA-ICP-MS methods. The spontaneous fission of 238U is a Poisson process resulting in large single-grain age uncertainties.

Improving the Accessibility and Efficiency of Proton Irradiations for 4He/3He Thermochronology

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Synthesizing uniform and high concentrations of 3He within minerals via high‐energy proton irradiation is paramount for 4He/3He thermochronology and helium diffusion kinetic studies.

Technical note : TRACKFlow, a new versatile microscope system forfission track analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We here present TRACKFlow, a new system with dedicated modules for the fission track (FT) laboratory. It is based on the motorised Nikon Eclipse Ni-E upright microscope with the Nikon DS-Ri2 full frame camera and is embedded within the Nikon NIS-Elements

Persistent topographic development along a strike-slip fault system: The Mount McKinley restraining bend [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Denali Fault is a major strike-slip fault extending from British Colombia, into western Alaska. Mount McKinley, at 6,114 m, is the highest peak in North America and is located to the south of a bend in the Denali Fault (Fig.1).
