Phase equilibria in stratified thin liquid films stabilized by colloidal particles

open access: yes, 2005
Phase equilibria between regions of different thickness in thin liquid films stabilized by colloidal particles are investigated using a quasi-two-dimensional thermodynamic formalism.

CALPHAD‐Guided Prediction and Interpretation of Phase Formation in Ta–Mo–Cr–Ti–Al Refractory High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study designs Ta–Mo–Cr–Ti–Al refractory high‐entropy alloys with a disordered body‐centered‐cubic A2 crystal structure aiming for improved ductility, lower density, and oxidation resistance. Four alloy compositions are identified by thermodynamic calculations.

On the thermodynamic equilibrium of thermal casting processes

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия
Based on thermodynamic calculations, it is shown that heating and cooling of metals and alloys are reversible, equilibrium processes. Based on thermodynamic calculations, it is shown that melting and crystallization of metals and alloys are also ...

Supersymmetric Field Theory of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamic System

open access: yes, 1999
On the basis of Langevin equation the optimal SUSY field scheme is formulated to discribe a non-equilibrium thermodynamic system with quenched disorder and non-ergodicity effects.

Investigation of Iron‐Aluminide‐Like Phase Composition in Complex Concentrated Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the phase composition and quantitative morphology analysis of precipitation‐hardened Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 complex‐concentrated alloy. The precipitates are shown to have a high coherency. Morphology transition between sphere, cuboidal, and elongated morphology is observed. Finally, the overaging behavior is captured using microhardness.

A Study of Phase Equilibrium Of H2S in Several Physical Solvents Using Chemcad Simulator

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2008
CHEMCAD process simulator was used for the analysis of the literature experimental phase equilibrium data of H2S with three physical solvents (Sulfolane, Propylene Carbonate (PC), and N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP)) at different temperatures ( 298.15 oK ...

Investigation of Oxide Dispersion Strengthening Effect on the Strength of Diffusion‐Bonded AISI304 Parts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments for reinforcing the diffusion bonding plane by the oxide dispersion strengthening effect are presented. Small ceramic particles (0.5 and 50 μm, respectively) are incorporated. Furthermore, ceramic particles help to penetrate stable passivation layers, enabling atomic diffusion across bonding planes. Since a ceramic–metallic interface cannot

Impact of Hot Isostatic Pressing on Microstructure Evolution and Creep Performance of Powder Bed Fusion–Laser Beam Processed CM247LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) temperature on the microstructure and creep performance of powder bed fusion–laser beam processed CM247LC superalloy is investigated. Grain growth and γ’ precipitate evolution are characterized following HIP at varying temperatures.

Finite Size Polyelectrolyte Bundles at Thermodynamic Equilibrium

open access: yes, 2006
We present the results of extensive computer simulations performed on solutions of monodisperse charged rod-like polyelectrolytes in the presence of trivalent counterions. To overcome energy barriers we used a combination of parallel tempering and hybrid
