Conductometric Studies of Sodium Iodide, Sodium Tetraphenylborate, Tetrabutylammonium Iodide, and Sodium Tetrafluoroborate in 1-Propanol at Temperatures from (283.15 to 318.15) K

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2014
The electrical conductances of dilute solutions of sodium iodide (NaI), sodium tetraphenylborate (NaBPh4), tetrabutylammonium iodide (Bu4NI), and sodium tetrafluoroborate (NaBF4) in 1-propanol have been measured over the temperature range from (283.15 to

The Ising model in a Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld sandpile

open access: yes, 2006
We study the spin-1 Ising model with non-local constraints imposed by the Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld sandpile model of self-organized criticality (SOC). The model is constructed as if the sandpile is being built on a (honeycomb) lattice with Ising interactions.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Approximate solutions of Schrodinger equation and thermodynamic properties with Hua potential

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
The study investigates the thermodynamic properties with Hua potential. First, the energy of the system is derived by solving the Schrodinger equation using the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method.

Fluctuation corrections on thermodynamic functions: Finite size effect

open access: yes, 2013
The explicit thermodynamic functions, in particular, the specific heat of a spin system interacting with a spin bath which exerts finite dissipation on the system are determined.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Cognitive Improvement in Thermodynamic Functions With Calculus Chain Rule

open access: yesPendipa
This research was motivated by the low ability of students to apply mathematical solution methods to thermodynamic functions. Thermodynamic functions are functions that consist of pressure, temperature, volume and enthalpy functions where changes in one ...

Thermodynamic model of a solid with RKKY interaction and magnetoelastic coupling

open access: yes, 2018
Thermodynamic description of a model system with magnetoelastic coupling is presented. The elastic, vibrational, electronic and magnetic energy contributions are taken into account.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...
