A thermodynamic model of bacterial transcription [PDF]
Transcriptional pausing is highly regulated by the template DNA and nascent transcript sequences. Here, we propose a thermodynamic model of transcriptional pausing, based on the thermal energy of transcription bubbles and nascent RNA structures, to describe the kinetics of the reaction pathways between active translocation, intermediate, backtracked ...

Dynamic and thermodynamic models of adaptation [PDF]
The concept of biological adaptation was closely connected to some mathematical, engineering and physical ideas from the very beginning. Cannon in his "The wisdom of the body" (1932) used the engineering vision of regulation. In 1938, Selye enriched this approach by the notion of adaptation energy.

Digitalization in Thermodynamics [PDF]
Digitalization is about data and how they are used. This has always been a key topic in applied thermodynamics. In the present work, the influence of the current wave of digitalization on thermodynamics is analyzed.

Quantified Uncertainty in Thermodynamic Modeling for Materials Design [PDF]
Phase fractions, compositions and energies of the stable phases as a function of macroscopic composition, temperature, and pressure (X-T-P) are the principle correlations needed for the design of new materials and improvement of existing materials.

Preoxidation and Activation of the Lignin Char: Carbonization and Oxidation Procedures
A comprehensive process of pretreatment and oxidation of lignin char was developed to optimize the production of activated carbon. The lignin char was obtained by carbonization of lignin under nitrogen at 600°C for 2 hours.

Thermodynamic modeling of the Al-K system [PDF]
A thermodynamic modeling for the Al-K system is conducted. The thermodynamic parameters for liquid, (Al), and (K) are evaluated by using the experimental phase diagram data from the literature. The gas phase is described with an ideal gas model.

Thermodynamic modeling of the NbeB system [PDF]
In the present work, the Nb–B binary system was thermodynamically optimized. The stable phases in this system are BCC (niobium), Nb3B2, NbB, Nb3B4, Nb5B6, NbB2, B (boron) and liquid L.

Differentiable thermodynamic modeling
A new framework of thermodynamic modeling is proposed by introducing the concept of differentiable programming, where all the thermodynamic observables including both thermochemical quantities and phase equilibria can be differentiated with respect to the underlying model parameters, thus allowing the models learned by gradient-based optimization.
