Thermodynamic Stability of Nanobubbles

open access: yes, 2015
The observed stability of nanobubbles contradicts the well-known result in classical nucleation theory, that the critical radius is both microscopic and thermodynamically unstable. Here nanoscopic stability is shown to be the combined result of two non-classical mechanisms. It is shown that the surface tension decreases with increasing supersaturation,

Hierarchical Primary‐Secondary Coordination Synchronizes Ion Flux and Sulfur Redox in Solid Polymer Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hierarchical coordination engineering redistributes Li+ from anion‐dominated pairing toward polymer‐mediated binding. Strong primary sites promote salt dissociation, while distributed secondary sites sustain dynamic hopping pathways. This coordination landscape couples ion flux with polysulfide conversion, suppresses transport‐conversion decoupling ...

Mechanistic Control of C─H Bond Activation and C─C Coupling in Light‐Driven Methane Conversion to C2+ Products over Multifunctional Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Methane photocatalytic activation under mild conditions remains a formidable challenge in the synthesis of solar fuels. In this review, we emphasize the growing importance of multifunctional materials and hybrid systems within a unified mechanistic framework that integrates selective C─H bond activation, formation and control of intermediates, C─C ...

Chemically Fueled Systems Chemistry Across Length Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chemically fueled reaction cycles regulate processes through single and multiple catalytic sites on the molecular and assembly scale. This gives rise to unique kinetically controlled properties/functions like spatio‐temporal catalysis, oscillations, optical properties, and perform work.

Thermodynamic factors of dicarba-closododecaboranes(12) configuraction stability

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2006
Reactions of isomerisation 1,2-C2B10H12  1,7-C2B10H12 and 1,7-C2B10H12  1,12- C2B10H12 were analyzed at B3LYP/6-311G(2d,2p) level of theory. Thermodynamic parameters of these reactions were calculated at 298 – 1000 K.

Thermally Robust Spin–Orbit Torque Switching in Low‐Resistivity Mo‐Alloyed β‐W Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mo‐alloyed β‐W heterostructures exhibit enhanced spin‐orbit torque efficiency, reduced resistivity and switching current density, and reliable operation from −50 to +150°C. The optimized W87.3Mo12.7 device achieves high spin Hall conductivity with thermal robustness, highlighting its potential for energy‐efficient magnetic memory and automotive ...

On thermodynamic stability of black holes. Part I: classical stability

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We revisit the classical thermodynamic stability of the standard black hole solutions by implementing the intrinsic necessary and sufficient conditions for stable global and local thermodynamic equilibrium.

Silicone Phase Behavior Resolves the Softness–Surface Functionality Trade‐Off in Emerging Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrasoft silicone elastomers often sacrifice surface functionality for mechanical compliance. In Mold Star, low‐molecular‐weight species form a dispersed phase that weakens the network and passivates the surface. Solvent extraction removes this phase, unexpectedly improving both extensibility and metallization performance, enabling conductive ...
