Mechanical inhibition of dissipation in a thermodynamically consistent active solid
The study of active solids offers a window into the mechanics and thermodynamics of dense living matter. A key aspect of the nonequilibrium dynamics of such active systems is a mechanistic description of how the underlying mechanochemical couplings arise,

Infinite Series Based on Bessel Zeros
An interesting series based on Bessel function roots (zeros) is discussed and numerically analyzed. The novel-derived simplified general solutions are based on Lommel polynomials.

Duhem and Natanson: Two Mathematical Approaches to Thermodynamics
In this article, the previously unrecognized contributions of Pierre Duhem and Ladislavus Natanson in thermodynamics are shown. The mathematical remodelling of a few of their principal ideas is taken into consideration, despite being neglected in the ...

Growth of lithium dendrites in solid state batteries is an important factor that disturbs their commercial applications. The growth of lithium dendrites at the interface of lithium metal anode will not only lead to the decrease of battery energy efficiency, but also cause combustion, explosion and other safety problems.

Dependence of Heat Transport in Solids on Length-Scale, Pressure, and Temperature: Implications for Mechanisms and Thermodynamics [PDF]
Accurate laser-flash measurements of thermal diffusivity (D) of diverse bulk solids at moderate temperature (T), with thickness L of ~0.03 to 10 mm, reveal that D(T) = D∞(T)[1 − exp(−bL)]. When L is several mm, D∞(T) = FT−G + HT, where F is constant, G is ~1 or 0, and H (for insulators) is ~0.001. The attenuation parameter b = 6.19D∞−0.477 at 298 K for
