Thermodynamics of micellization of n-alkylpyridinium chlorides
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1993Abstract The effect of temperature on the thermodynamic parameters of micellization of a homologous series of n-alkylpyridinium chlorides has been studied by isothermal microcalorimetry. The decyl, dodecyl and tetradecyl compounds were studied both in water and in 0.1 M NaCl in the temperature range 6–60°C.

Thermodynamics of mixed micelle formation
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1986Abstract A new method of calculating the composition of mixed micelles in equilibrium with monomer of known composition is proposed. This technique applies the Gibbs-Duhem equation to be mixed micelle, which is treated as a pseudophase. The method needs only CMC data as a function of monomer composition, but is limited to binary surfactant systems ...

Thermodynamics of anion binding to zwitterionic sulfobetaine micelles
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2022One of the most intriguing aspects of zwitterionic surfactant micelles is their propensity to exhibit selectivity in the binding of the anions of added salts. In this work we examine the thermodynamics of the interaction of the strongly bound perchlorate ion and the more weakly bound bromide ion with micelles of N-tetradecyl-N,N-dimethyl-3-ammonio-1 ...

The critical micelle concentration, aggregation number, shape and length of spherocylindrical micelles in solutions of zwitterionic surfactants can be predicted by knowing the molecular parameters and surfactant concentrations. This can be achieved by upgrading the quantitative molecular thermodynamic model with expressions for the electrostatic ...

Abstract General equations of the thermodynamics of micellar systems and of a single micelle are given. Relations among the size distribution of micelles, their surface tension, and the CMC are established. An expression for the constant of the law of mass action is obtained in terms of surface tension.

Thermodynamic properties of rhamnolipid micellization and adsorption
Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2014of the surface tension, density, viscosity and conductivity of aqueous solutions of rhamnolipid at natural and controlled pH were made at 293 K. On the basis of the obtained results the critical micelle concentration of rhamnolipid and its Gibbs surface excess concentration at the water-air interface were determined.

Thermodynamics of ionic micelles
Russian Chemical Reviews, 1989The present state of the thermodynamics of ionic micellar systems is examined and the principal characteristics of these systems are discussed: the charge and activity coefficients of the micelles, the concentration of the monomers and the degree of binding of the counterions, and the dependence of the critical micelle formation concentration on the ...
