Analytical modeling of micelle growth. 2. Molecular thermodynamics of mixed aggregates and scission energy in wormlike micelles

open access: yes, 2019
Hypotheses: Quantitative molecular-thermodynamic theory of the growth of giant wormlike micelles in mixed nonionic surfactant solutions can be developed on the basis of a generalized model, which includes the classical phase separation and mass action ...

Bio‐Based Amphiphilic Farnesyl Glycidyl Ether Block Copolymers: Aqueous Self‐Assembly and Solubilization Boosting

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Bio‐derived amphiphilic poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(terpenyl glycidyl ether) diblock copolymers (mPEG114‐b‐PTGEm) were synthesized via AROP from farnesyl glycidyl ether (FarGE) and its hexahydrogenated derivative (HHFarGE). Block copolymer amphiphilicity is easily tunable via the TGE block size m and systematically affects the critical micelle ...

N‐Geranylated Amino Acid Surfactants with Low Critical Micelle Concentrations from Abundant, Naturally Derived Starting Materials

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Cleaning Up Surfactants: Realising critical micelle concentrations lower than sodium dodecyl sulfate with sustainable surfactants prepared from amino acids and naturally occurring aldehydes. In this work, a simple method for the preparation of N‐alkylated amino acid surfactants in 1–2 steps is reported.

Thermosensitive Nanostructured Coacervates Developed by Mixing ABA‐ and AB‐Block Copolymers and Their Unique Sustained Release of Nano‐Micelles in a Regulated Manner

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Polyion complex micelles composed of blends of ABA and AB block copolymers can form coacervates with a hexagonally packed cylinder nanostructure after heating. The resulting coacervates can release the micelles under physiological conditions in a zero‐order kinetics, possessing cargo proteins.

Ultrasonic and Densitometric Characterization of Hyaluronan and its Interaction with Surfactant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This disertation thesis is focused on the study of physico-chemical interactions of hyaluronan (with molecular weights from 10 to 1750 kDa) with cationic surfactants measured using uncommon technique named high resolution ultrasonic spectroscopy ...

Attractive asymmetric inclusions in elastic membranes under tension: cluster phases and membrane invaginations

open access: yes, 2013
Up-down asymmetric inclusions impose a local, spontaneous curvature to an elastic membrane. When several of them are inserted in a same membrane, they feel effective forces mediated by the membrane, both of elastic and entropic nature.

Amphiphilic properties of dodecylammonium chloride/sodium 4-(1-pentylheptyl) benzenesulfonate aqueous mixtures and study of the catanionic complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Surfactants are often used in supramolecular chemistry, due to their ability to self-organize. Surfactant molecules aggregate spontaneously and reversibly to adopt a defined intermolecular arrangement. In this work, general phase behavior, adsorption and

Recent Advances in the Utilization of Imidazolium‐Based Ionic Liquids for Chemical‐Enhanced Oil Recovery: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This review highlights the recent advancements in imidazolium‐based ionic liquids for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), focusing on their ability to reduce interfacial tension, alter wettability, and stabilize emulsions. Their tunable chemistry, thermal stability, and recyclability position them as effective and sustainable alternatives to conventional EOR ...

Three eras of micellization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Micellization is the precipitation of lipids from aqueous solution into aggregates with a broad distribution of aggregation number. Three eras of micellization are characterized in a simple kinetic model of Becker-Döring type.
