Effect of microtemperatures for micropolar thermoelastic bodies

In this paper we investigate the theory of micropolar thermoelastic bodies whose micro-particles possess microtemperatures. We transform the mixed initial boundary value problem into a temporally evolutionary equation on a Hilbert space and after that we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution.

Abstract Thermoeiastic effects have been studied in vitreous silica and in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) by measuring the temperature response of a sample subjected to strain. Both ramp and sinusoidal strains were used, the latter covering the frequency range 0·01 to 10 Hz, in the temperature range 0·5 to 10 K.

Thermoelastic Effect in Niobium at the Superconducting Transition

An abrupt decrease in acoustic loss Q/sup -1/ has been observed in flexural modes of polycrystalline Nb disk samples on cooling through the superconducting transition temperature T/sub c/. High-resolution measurements on a 1.6-kHz mode of one sample showed a 30% decrease in Q/sup -1/ in a 20-mK temperature interval.
