Direct Observation of Substantial Phonon Nonequilibrium Near Nanoscale Hotspots in Gallium Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 11, March 20, 2025.
This study achieves direct characterization of intricate nanoscale phonon transport in semiconductors by developing refined a tip‐enhanced Raman thermal measurement technique. For the first time, substantial phonon nonequilibrium is directly observed near sub‐10nm laser‐excited hotspots in gallium nitride, as also evidenced by quantitative agreement ...

Tailoring the Anisotropic Oxygen Transport Properties in Bulk Ceramic Membranes Based on a Ruddlesden–Popper Oxide by Applying Magnetic Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 12, March 27, 2025.
Grain orientation in Nd2NiO4+δ ceramic membranes, achieved using magnetic fields, enables precise tuning of oxygen transport properties. This study presents an Nd2NiO4+δ bulk membrane with grains aligned with their a,b‐plane parallel to the oxygen permeation direction, produced by a neodymium magnet.

Omnidirectional 3D Printing of PEDOT: PSS Aerogels with Tunable Electromechanical Performance: A Playground for Unconventional Stretchable Interconnects and Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 11, March 20, 2025.
Here, 3D‐printable poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulfonate aerogels that are both conductive and mechanically robust, along with a novel protocol for integrating them directly onto stretchable substrates are presented. Omnidirectional direct ink writing enables the production of complex shapes.

Integrating Dense Genotyping with High‐Throughput Phenotyping Empowers the Genetic Dissection of Berry Quality and Resilience Traits in Grapevine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers develop advanced tools to study grapevine traits like berry quality and stress resilience. A 200K SNP array and high‐throughput phenotyping enable the identification of loci linked to berry shape, sugar content, acidity, and cold tolerance. Functional validation of genes such as NAC08 reveals roles in cold tolerance.

“Popping the Ion‐Basket”: Enhancing Thermoelectric Performance of Conjugated Polymers by Blending with Latently Dissociable Perovskite Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 11, March 20, 2025.
A novel strategy to enhance the thermoelectric performance of conjugated polymers through the incorporation of latently dissociable perovskite quantum dots is demonstrated. The quantum dots dissociate during the sequential solution doping of the conjugated polymers, resulting in a significant increase in the Seebeck coefficient of the polymer compared ...
