Thermoelectric effects in superconductors

2007
A summary of recent theoretical and experimental work on thermoelectric and related effects in superconductors is given. Whereas this field for a long time was characterized by large discrepancies between theory and experiment, more recent experiments confirm the theoretical concepts.

Thermoelectric effect in a layered superconductor

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 1996
The thermoelectric effect due to structural anisotropy in a layered superconductor is studied. We found that the thermoelectric magnetic field is proportional to the difference of in-plane and out-of-plane normal-state Seebeck coefficients and could be easily compared with experimental data.

``Thermoelectric Effect'' of Hot Carriers

Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
A theory is developed for the voltage arising from a gradient in a high electric field, i.e., a field sufficient to change the average energy of the carriers, and applied to calculations for the warm-carrier region in a semiconductor. For a situation in which there is a region of constant field E next to a region, consisting of the same material, in ...

Thermoelectric effect as a test of exotic superconductivity

Physical Review B, 1988
I show that measurements of thermoelectric effects can provide a simple criterion for distinguishing between ordinary superconductivity and superconductivity characterized by an order parameter with symmetry less than that of the underlying Fermi surface.

Fundamentals of Thermoelectrical Effect in SiC

2018
This chapter presents the fundamentals of thermoresistive effect in different SiC morphologies including single-crystalline cubic SiC, polycrystalline and amorphous SiC. The thermocapacitive and thermoelectric effects are also summarised. In addition, recent advances in the characterisation of the thermoelectrical effect in SiC single and double layers

Application of the Transverse Thermoelectric Effects

Journal of Electronic Materials, 2010
Most thermoelectric applications make use of the longitudinal Seebeck and Peltier effects. However, it is possible to produce thermoelectric effects in which the electrical and thermal flows are perpendicular to one another. This has certain practical advantages; for example, it makes possible the realization of an infinite-staged cascade refrigerator ...
