Thermoelectric effects in superconducting nanostructures [PDF]
We study thermoelectric effects in superconducting nanobridges and demonstrate that the magnitude of these effects can be comparable or even larger than that for a macroscopic superconducting circuit. The reason is related to a possibility to have very large gradients of electron temperature within the nanobridge.

Thermoelectric effects in graphene nanostructures [PDF]
The thermoelectric properties of graphene and graphene nanostructures have recently attracted significant attention from the physics and engineering communities. In fundamental physics, the analysis of Seebeck and Nernst effects is very useful in elucidating some details of the electronic band structure of graphene that cannot be probed by conductance ...

Thermoelectric Effects in Nanoscale Junctions [PDF]
Despite its intrinsic nonequilibrium origin, thermoelectricity in nanoscale systems is usually described within a static scattering approach which disregards the dynamical interaction with the thermal baths that maintain energy flow. Using the theory of open quantum systems, we show instead that unexpected properties, such as a resonant structure and ...

Modeling of the Temperature Profiles and Thermoelectric Effects in Phase Change Memory Cells
Phase change memory (PCM) is an important element in the development and realization of new forms of brain-like computing. In this article, a three-dimensional finite element method simulation is carried out to study the temperature profiles within PCM ...

Interplay of Peltier and Seebeck effects in nanoscale nonlocal spin valves [PDF]
We have experimentally studied the role of thermoelectric effects in nanoscale nonlocal spin valve devices. A finite element thermoelectric model is developed to calculate the generated Seebeck voltages due to Peltier and Joule heating in the devices. By

How to achieve high thermoelectric figure of merit is still a scientific challenge. By solving the Boltzmann transport equation, thermoelectric properties can be written as integrals of a single function, the transport distribution function (TDF).

Optimisation of a three-terminal nonlinear heat nano-engine
Charge and heat transport in nano-structures is dominated by non-equilibrium effects which strongly influence their behaviour. These effects are studied in a setup consisting of three external leads, one of which is considered as a heat reservoir and is ...
