Materials for thermoelectric refrigeration
Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1959Abstract The electrical conductivity, thermoelectric power and thermal conductivity were measured on Bi2Te3 and the alloy systems (Bi,Sb)2Te3, Bi2(Te,Se)2 and (Bi2Sb)2(Te,Se)3. Criteria determining the optimum properties of the materials for thermoelectric refrigeration are discussed.

2010Thermoelectric (TE) cooling has been used for thermal management of high-power-dissipating electrical components, with silent, compact, reliable, and durable characteristics and being modulated to maintain a fixed temperature. However, TE coolers currently in use have a coefficient of performance (COP) of only about 0.5.
