Freestanding Membranes of Titania Nanorods, Photocatalytically Reduced Graphene Oxide, and Silk Fibroin: Tunable Properties and Electrostatic Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 5, April 2025.
Graphene‐based materials have shown great potential for the development of hybrid MEMS devices. This study describes the facile fabrication of freestanding membranes from graphene oxide, titania nanorods, and silk fibroin. By utilizing the photocatalytic activity of the titania nanorods, the mechanical and electrical properties of the membranes can ...

In2Se3 Synthesized by the FWF Method for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 5, April 2025.
The flash‐within‐flash method to synthesize gram‐scale pure phase α‐In2Se3 composed of two vessels: In pellets and Se powder in inner quartz tube, and metallurgical coke in outer quartz tube to introduce indirect heat transfer. The process involves high voltage flashing and results in materials used to generate neuromorphic computing devices ...

Multifunctional Native Defects Boosting the Thermoelectric Transport in Few‐Layer PdPS

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 6, May 2025.
The study reveals that the thermoelectric (TE) properties of PdPS can be effectively tuned through annealing, which adjusts defect concentrations within the material. These defects not only control carrier concentrations and shift the Fermi level closer to the conduction band, but also introduce abundant defect states. Consequently, this tuning enables

Computational Microscopy of Spatial Dopant Distribution in Conjugated Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The study employed molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the distribution of dopants in conjugated polymers. The simulations revealed that dopants are randomly distributed without forming clusters, contrasting with experimental findings of dopant clustering.

Improving the Thermoelectric Properties of Conjugated Polymer Thin Films by Dip Coating – but not through Alignment

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The study demonstrates that dip coating at lower speeds significantly enhances the thermoelectric performance of P3HT by improving electrical conductivity. Contrary to expectations, this improvement is seemingly not due to polymer alignment but rather to better structural order achieved during slower solvent evaporation at lower dip coating speeds ...
