Confinement‐Engineered Thermally Programmed Ion‐Gating Separator for Decoupling Thermal–Electrochemical Feedback in High‐Energy Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new phase‐change material encapsulated membrane offers more thermal resilience stability and safety than the conventional separators for batteries. ABSTRACT Thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries arises from the intrinsic coupling between heat generation and ion transport, yet conventional shutdown separators primarily rely on passive pore collapse

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

A hybrid AI-kinetic framework for predicting the pyrolysis of food packaging plastic waste: Integrating TGA, model-free kinetics, and artificial neural networks

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
The increase in the accumulation of plastic waste, such as polypropylene (PP) used in food packaging, causes serious environmental problems because of its non-biodegradable nature.

A study on carbon nanotubes/nanofibers production via SHS method in C-Al-Fe2O3 system

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2018
In this research carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were synthesized via self-propagation high-temperature synthesis (SHS). The exothermic reaction between aluminum and iron oxide was used for preparing the heat required for SHS.

Direct Integration of Conductive, Emissive Perovskite Nanocrystals Into Efficient Light‐Emitting Diodes Without Post‐Synthetic Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the direct integration of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) into optoelectronic devices without post‐synthetic ligand exchange. This is achieved by synthesizing PNCs stabilized by strong‐binding‐energy oleylammonium–bromide pairs instead of oleate ligands. The resultant low ligand density and minimized surface defects enhance charge

Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for characterization of self-cementation of recycled concrete aggregates in pavement

open access: yesThermochimica Acta
A key question concerning the application of recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) into pavement is the assessmentof self-cementing properties of RCA, which increase the strength and stiffness of unbound base and subbaselayers. In this paper, the assessment of self-cementing properties of RCA, the hydration of unhydrated binder andtheir influence on the ...

Roll‐to‐Roll Processable EC/TC Hybrid Smart Windows Driven by a Bidirectional Dual‐Chromic Polymer Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable EC/TC hybrid smart window using a DCPE that enables tunable solar modulation (ΔTsol:15–43%), fast electrochromic switching (<90 s), and strong thermal blocking (10–14°C reduction). HPMC improves thermal stability, while an optimized ISL enhances EC performance.

Freeze‐Thaw Engineered Dual Conductivity Polymeric Binder Stabilizes Large‐Volume‐Change Lithium–Ion Battery Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed an all‐aqueous freeze‐thaw strategy to create a dual‐conductive PVA/P3KBT binder for high volume‐change lithium–ion battery anodes. The resulting binder system strengthens the electrode structure, supports ion and electron transport, and accommodates repeated volume changes, reducing cracking and improving long‐term cycling ...

Data on FTIR, TGA – DTG, DSC of invasive pennisetum purpureum grass

open access: yesData in Brief, 2020
The aim of this research is to characterize the invasive grass, Pennisetum purpureum, to evaluate the potentiality of the bioenergy production. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra are measured in order to understand the functional groups and their ...
