Reference materials for thermogravimetry
Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1981The thermobalances available commercially have a wide range of heater-sample-temperature sensor relationships. Because of the differences, relating data from one apparatus to another has been imprecise. The International Confederation for Thermal Analysis has certified a set of magnetic reference materials for thermogravimetry.

Sources of inaccuracies in thermogravimetry and the ways of minimizing them are described. The disturbances related to buoyancy forces and disturbances caused by drag forces from local gas circulations have been studied and interpreted. Procedures leading to parts-per-million precision have been tested and proven. Recommendations for handling corrosive

Thermogravimetry of a kaolinite-alunite ore
Thermochimica Acta, 1995An ore containing kaolinite (Al2O3·2SiO2·2H2O), alunite (KAl3(SO4)2(OH)6), feldspar (KAlSi3O8) and quartz (SiO2) was analysed by TG/DTA to determine the mineralogical composition of samples considered representative of concentrates and tailings likely to be obtained from physical treatments designed to produce a kaolin concentrate as low as possible in

Investigation of Evaporation by Thermogravimetry
1972Thermogravimetry /TG/ and derivative thermogravimetry /DTG/ are adopted to study the phenomenon of evaporation. Analyses show that, besides the geometrical constant of evaporation surface, the size of the sample holder and the quantity of the sample must be optimized in order to avoid anomaly.

Compositional Analysis by Thermogravimetry
1988Description The Special Technical Publication is the result of an international symposium, which was held 16 and 17 March 1987 at Philadelphia, PA. This symposium was organized and sponsored by the ASTM Committee E37 on Thermal Measurements. The symposium as well as the special technical publication cover a broad spectrum of applications
