Investigation of Thermohydraulic Characteristics of Vortex Chambers

Thermal Engineering, 2020
Local flow swirling is used in power facilities and other technical devices. It is an effective means for acting on the air flow structure and can enhance heat transfer. A swirled flow in axisymmetric channels belongs to the group of 3D flows in the field of centrifugal mass forces.

A Computational Investigation of the Thermohydraulics of an EGS Project

Journal of Thermal Science, 2018
A numerical analysis of the thermohydraulics of an enhanced geothermal system project is presented. The rock structures are modelled as porous medium, based on the computationally obtained hydraulic fracturing data of other authors. The influence of the domain size, grid resolution, temporal resolution and the discretization scheme is assessed to ...

Thermohydraulic effects of safety relief valves

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1999
Abstract An experimental study of the thermohydraulic performance of the safety relief valve (SRV) is presented. The study showed that the single and two-phase conditions upstream the SRV cause significant changes in the flow through the SRV. Five SRVs were tested covering a pressure range of (4.5–75) bar.

Thermohydraulic Simulation of Heat Exchanger Networks

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2010
This paper presents a simulation scheme of heat exchanger networks considering thermal and hydraulic effects simultaneously. The determination of network temperatures is carried out together with the evaluation of flow rates and pressures along the network, considering head losses in heat exchangers and associated piping.

Fundamentals of liquid metal boiling thermohydraulics

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1984
Abstract Developments in space and in nuclear-energy have demonstrated the heat-transfer utility of liquid metals in both low-pressure and high-temperature applications. Compared with water or organic liquids, liquid metals are advantageous in the design of thermal features, as for heat transport at high-temperatures at normal pressures.

Chemical Thermohydraulics of Steam Generating Systems

Nuclear Technology, 1981
In steam generating systems, the concentration of solutes in contact with heat transfer surfaces, a decisive factor in determining the actual material corrosive environment, exceeds that of the bulk fluid. This paper deals with steam generation on the unobstructed tube surfaces, and the effects of deposition of corrosion products on concentration of ...

Thermohydraulic modeling of pulsed laser welding

ICALEO 2013: 32nd International Congress on Laser Materials Processing, Laser Microprocessing and Nanomanufacturing, 2013
The major aim of this study is to increase our understanding of the link between operating parameters and thermo-hydraulic evolution in the welding area, in the case of an isolated impact made with a Nd:YAG pulsed laser on a thin Ti6Al4V sheet. Two numerical approaches are used to model both the interaction stage and the cooling one.

Thermohydraulics of a metal foam-filled annulus

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018
This paper offers numerical and experimental analysis of forced convection through an annulus filled with aluminium foam. Effects of flow rate and foam pore density on the performance of the heat exchanger were investigated. Specifically, 5 and 20 pore per inch (PPI) aluminium metal foams were tested at three different airflow rates; 20, 85 and 150 ...

Thermohydraulic calculation of channels with cylindrical grooves

Russian Aeronautics (Iz VUZ), 2013
In this paper, a model of heat exchange and resistance in the channels with cylindrical grooves on the walls is presented. We compare the calculated data with the experimental results and give some recommendations for designers of power plants.

Thermohydraulic design of the KSTAR vacuum vessel

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2001
The KSTAR vacuum vessel is designed as a racetrack-shaped double wall configuration with major ports, reinforcing ribs, bellows and a leaf spring style support structure. The vessel will be baked out by hot nitrogen gas and cooled with shielding water during normal operation.
