Numerical investigation of thermohydraulic performance on wake region in finned tube heat exchanger with section-streamlined tube

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
This paper proposes the section-streamlined tubes to explore the effect of wake region on thermohydraulic performance in the finned tube heat exchangers. Tube configurations and the angle θ have been numerically investigated.

Thermohydraulic performance optimization of a novel double-pass solar air heater with vertical PCM-integrated cylinders: A comparative study

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Solar air heater (SAH) systems are efficient devices to capture solar energy, but their consistent thermohydraulic performance is limited by poor convective heat transfer and fluctuating solar energy.

Evolution of Microchannel Flow Passages--Thermohydraulic Performance and Fabrication Technology [PDF]

open access: yesHeat Transfer Engineering, 2002
This paper provides a roadmap of development in the thermal and fabrication aspects of microchannels as applied in the microelectronics and other high heat-flux cooling applications. Microchannels are defined as flow passages that have hydraulic diameters in the range of 10 to 200 micrometers.

CFD Analysis and Taguchi-Based Optimization of the Thermohydraulic Performance of a Solar Air Heater Duct Baffled on a Back Plate

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
In this paper, a solar air collector duct equipped with baffles on a back plate was numerically investigated. The Reynolds number (Re) was varied from 5000 to 20,000, the angle baffle (a) from 30° to 120°, the baffle spacing ratio (Pr) from 2 to 8, and ...

Numerical investigation on the performance of a solar air heater using inclined impinging jets on absorber plate with parallel and crossing orientation of nozzles

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
This work investigates the performance enhancement of a solar air heater using inclined impinging jets on the heater surface. Two main sets of arrangements are considered for the jet nozzles including the parallel and crossing orientation of nozzles in ...

Thermal transport and magnetohydrodynamics flow of generalized Newtonian nanofluid with inherent irreversibility between conduit with slip at the walls

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2023
This study enlightens the magnetohydrodynamic Jeffery-Hamel flow under an inclined Lorentz force through a non-uniform conduit having slip at walls, which is frequently applied in geothermal applications, electronic cooling devices, and modern energy ...

Helical Baffle Thermohydraulic Performance Versus Segmental Baffle One

open access: yesMechanics, 2022
In this contribution, we reworked the Bell-Delaware technique for a HB-STHX to systematically study its thermohydraulic performance behavior in the shell side. The helical baffles are continuous quadrant sectors with five inclination angles 25°, 30°, 35°, 40° and 45° and are exanimated for six different values of Reynolds number  from  up to 40 .

A Review of Airside Heat Transfer Augmentation with Vortex Generators on Heat Transfer Surface

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Heat exchanger performance can be improved via the introduction of vortex generators to the airside surface, based on the mechanism that the generated longitudinal vortices can disrupt the boundary layer growth, increase the turbulence intensity and ...
